     Potato Mission

Odisha has a variety of climate and soil on which a large number of horticulture crops such as fruits and vegetables, potato, tuber crops are grown. After green revolution it has became clear that horticulture is an ideal activity of achieving sustainability of small holdings. The need of diversification has been acknowledge by Govt of Odisha to make horticulture more profitable through efficient land use; creating sufficient employments for rural mass through a mission (Potato). KALPAVRIKSH made a success attempt in Raikia towards Potato cultivation and livelihood of farmers. In FY 2015-16 more than 45 farmers were benefited in potato mission.   

Ramesh Nayak  a retaired school teacher cultivated 2 quintals of potato. Being a VDC member acting as secretary of Navajagruti VDC, Damaguda leading from the front. Set an example for other farmers who do not think potato is far more commercial as compared to turmeric. Getting a benefit of Rs 4500/- in last season.
